You might have read a lot of conflicting information, even from the official government sites, about how to get married in Puerto Rico. You’re in the right place. We’ve done this hundreds of times. We are the experts to be legally married in Puerto Rico.

Read on for all the details and what you’ll need!

Getting married in Puerto Rico is easy!

Here are the requirements:

  • Government-issued IDs
  • Birth certificates
  • Lab tests, specifically for the STDs of syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, and HIV
  • Divorce decrees or death certificates of previous spouses, when applicable

You’ll also need someone to help navigate the system, submit your documentation, obtain sign-off from a local doctor, register your marriage in person at the demografico registro, apply for your marriage certificate in person, and send you your marriage certificate. Your officiant or wedding planner might be able to help; please read here for some advice.

Or, with our “Let Us Take Care of Everything” marriage certificate add-on to our wedding packages, we do all of the above and send your official marriage certificate. (Note: this service is offered for our couples who book our wedding packages only. We aren’t able to offer it a la carte to couples working with other wedding companies or venues.)
