Julia Treu-Fowler Signs a Marriage Certificate in El Morro

Old San Juan is one of the most beautiful and historic places on the island, and many couples choose to hold their Puerto Rico destination wedding or elopement here. Many of the beautiful locations within are owned and managed by the National Park Service. The NPS manages the permit process for destination weddings and elopements.

A bit of paperwork and a fee is required, but the process is straightforward due to the help of the Park Ranger Special Use Permits Coordinator, Julia Treu-Fowler. Julia will be on maternity leave for a few months starting in early August 2015, but another ranger will help out in her absence.

The NPS rangers are great to work with. They speak fluent English and Spanish, and love the properties and sharing those properties with destination wedding couples. For elopements where witnesses are needed, they’ll even sign the marriage certificate as a witness!
