Hacienda222
We always say that it wouldn’t be a Puerto Rico wedding without a wedding crasher or two. Usually, it’s an uninvited guest who just can’t miss the festivities, but we’ve had some pretty unique ones, from four-legged to helicopters. This month in The Latest, we’re featuring a few of them.
We’ve had ceremonies with the backdrop of breaching humpback whales while underneath our own whale weathervane on top of our Bohio at Hacienda222.
Once a year, this week, after the second new moon after the summer solstice, thousands (millions?) of hermit crabs migrate out of the rocks and up the cliffs of Puerto Hermina for a few days of mating. (We’re not making this up, we actually are very careful to inform all our couples with weddings over the next weeks as parking is limited!).
We once had a manatee surface behind us during a beach ceremony at the exact moment we were talking about a bride’s deceased mom and how she was with them in spirit.
And of course, we’re biased, but our own Hacienda222 rescues have become professional wedding crashers and true party animals in their own right, available by demand!
We look forward to welcoming you to your own Puerto Rico Destination Wedding, with your own wedding crashers or two!
Wedding Crashers
We are animal lovers at Puerto Rico Destination Weddings, Inc. And over the course of hundreds of weddings, we’ve come to find out that many of our couples and their loved ones are animal lovers as well. Planning a wedding that is not a traditional ballroom-at-a-hotel-wedding allows for your four-legged family members to be a part of your big day. And sometimes, if you are lucky, you’ll meet other friends along the way…
Adam & Rahshun brought their sweet pups Charlotte & Finneas along for their destination wedding, and wanted their dogs to tie the knot as well. We were up for officiating a doggie nuptial ceremony. The bride ran away at first but it all worked out in the end.
Tiffany & Jonathan knew from the moment that they started planning a destination wedding that their adorable senior pup, Buster, had to be in attendance. We were happy to make this sweet little guy a part of their special day.
Sonia’s dapper dog, Gatsby, walked her down the aisle for her wedding at Hacienda222. There were only occasional delays anddistractions as he stopped to sniff out the area.
Of course, not all of our wedding crashers are four-legged. You might spot rare butterflies in the butterfly garden at Hacineda222 …
Tito Rojas, our Kikiriki (a teacup rooster) is very social and loves to charm our couples! Ivy & Brett fed him some snacks from the garden during their wedding celebration at Hacienda222 and both parties were thrilled.
At The Ruins in Aguadilla, it s not uncommon to see iguanas lounging in the sun.
… Or a hermit crab walking along the path at Puerto Hermina (especially during annual mating season). No matter the type of critter, we love delighting in the wonder of nature that a destination wedding in Puerto Rico provides.
