Saludos from beautiful Puerto Rico!
I hope that this finds you all well! Summer has officially arrived here … hot, sunny, longer days, afternoon thunderstorms, and stunning sunsets. Like much of the rest of our part of the world, we’re enjoying a return to normal, though the island is still taking masks and Covid precautions seriously. But we are definitely open for business, and tourists are flocking here!
We continue to have record-setting months with multiple weddings every day. Love is in the air, and people want to celebrate by getting married or renewing their vows. Dates are filling up fast through 2021, so be sure to contact us for how to secure your own wedding date.
This month’s edition of The Latest features Jennifer & Joseph’s recent wedding at Puerto Hermina. We’ve had a lot of requests for last-minute weddings like theirs, so we share a bit of information on how to do it stress-free and symbolically. We also provide a bit of advice for those folks interested in bringing their own officiant and making their marriage legal in Puerto Rico.
Finally, we’re so excited to share “Happenings at Hacienda222”. Hacienda222, our own wedding venue and an incredibly unique and stunning space, is shaping up to be better than we ever thought possible. We can’t wait to keep you posted as we host happy couples and wedding ceremonies and celebrations.
As always, let us know how we can help with the Puerto Rico destination wedding of your dreams!

Zoom In: The Wedding of Jennifer & Joseph
Check out this stunning video from the wedding of Jennifer & Joseph at Puerto Hermina in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico.
Jennifer & Joseph’s last-minute symbolic elopement at Puerto Hermina was a dream. This lovely couple reached out to us as they were getting on a plane for a relaxing vacation in Puerto Rico. Jennifer & Joseph packed their wedding attire in hopes that they would find someone to marry them while they were on the island. And who are we to stop love!? Our team came together and made Jennifer & Joseph’s wedding dreams come true. Their beautiful wedding included everything from custom decor in Puerto Hermina, to a wedding video including drone photography, to a delicious wedding cake featuring toasted coconut grown at Hacineda222. Symbolic and last-minute weddings can be absolutely gorgeous!
In a break with tradition, the bride and groom walked down the aisle together. We are happy to make your wedding day one of a kind!

Our delicious cake and champagne is a favorite addition to our wedding packages. This is a coconut cake featuring toasted coconut grown at Hacienda222.

Becoming a Wedding Officiant in Puerto Rico
Sometimes it seems as if everyone’s a wedding officiant these days. It’s easy to be ordained online, and many states allow such online credentials for legal purposes for signing and registering marriages. Puerto Rico does not. We often hear from couples who would like to have a loved one officiate their legal wedding in Puerto Rico. It’s possible, but not at all recommended.
Top Five Reasons You Might Consider a Symbolic Ceremony
Jennifer & Darnell had a beautiful wedding ceremony at The Ruins of Aguadilla. Did you know that many weddings are symbolic in nature? They have the same look and feel as a legal wedding ceremony, just without the legalities. We are happy to perform your wedding ceremony without the paperwork!
What is a Symbolic Wedding?
We’re often asked if it’s possible to have a beautiful wedding ceremony, without dealing with all the paperwork. (Even though we’ve streamlined the process for our couples, and it’s never been easier to be legally married in Puerto Rico.) The answer is yes! A ceremony without the paperwork is called a symbolic wedding ceremony and it is more common than you might think.
Happenings at Hacienda222
Hacienda222, our stunning cliffside facility, is a labor of love, with stunning new spaces continually being revealed. We’d like to use this little space in our newsletter to keep you updated on all the latest happenings.
Construction is underway on our Bohio (Taino word for a rustic and natural common area). Within a few months, it will feature a stunning natural thatch roof, but in the meanwhile, we’re loving the decor possibilities for this work-in-progress. We draped all the posts with flowing white fabric for Rosi & Andre’s wedding ceremony of Rosi & Andre. It was beautiful!
For several years, our organic raised bed gardens have brought us bumper crops of eggplant, tomato, peppers, and a variety of herbs and spices. We’ve recently started working with a local organic gardener to take our raised garden beds to a new level. If you are planning a dinner at Hacienda222 you might enjoy some of the fruits (and vegetables) of their labor.
There are so many exciting projects at Hacienda222 that we can’t wait to share with you. Stay tuned in the coming months for more updates!
