Rincon Wedding

Saludos!

I hope this message finds everyone well and healthy! Puerto Rico is wonderful these days. Seasonal changes in the tropics do exist, and September brings slightly shorter days, big waves for surfing, and the anticipation of the festive holiday season just around the corner.

Last week, our governor eased lockdown restrictions even more, and things are fairly “back to normal” these days. Visitors are required to show a negative Covid test on entry, and mask use is required and enforced (though not on beaches and in restaurants). Most everything is open, and our couples have had nothing but great experiences visiting and enjoying the island.

We’ve been busy providing wonderful wedding experiences for our happy couples, as well as expanding our dinner and reception options to include intimate, catered celebrations at our own facilities, Hacienda 222, or at our couples’ rental properties. This month, we wanted to share Vanessa & Andres’ beautiful wedding in Rincon, our delicious catering options, and one of Puerto Rico’s most ubiquitous and charming customs.

Have a fantastic month, all, and let us know how we can help with your own Puerto Rico destination wedding, elopement, or vow renewal!

Best,

The Wedding of Vanessa & Andres

Rincon Wedding

Vanessa & Andres’ Rincon wedding was one for the storybooks. They were married in a beautiful ceremony at the stunning Pool’s Beach in Rincon. After the ceremony, the couple and their guests returned to their beachfront rental property, converted into a romantic wedding dinner venue, where they feasted on a six-course farm-to-table vegetarian tasting menu with wine pairings. They started with canapes and sparkling wine in the seaside parilla (outdoor grill) area and moved to their beautifully decorated dinner space for a true culinary experience. Authentic Puerto Rican touches delighted their family, from the locally-grown food and flavors to the live background that featured old-school yet elevated Puerto Rican tunes. It was a joy to create this special Rincon wedding for this Boricua and his beautiful bride, as they start this next chapter of their lives together.

The first course, canapes paired with sparkling wine, served in the beachfront outdoor grill area. Chef Charlotte describes the locally-made vegan morcilla sausage, made with beets instead of blood, topped with four different sauces, all from ingredients grown on the family-run farm.

The second course, pumpkin soup, topped with requeson (homemade local cheese) with a touch of spirulina and sunflower seeds.

Fun Fact:
“Buen Provecho!”

When eating out in Puerto Rico, you’re likely to hear your server or even strangers walking by,  wish you, ‘Buen Provecho’. The Spanish equivalent of “Bon Appetit” in French, or “Enjoy Your Meal” in English, it’s used more in Puerto Rico than anywhere else in the world. Not only is “Buen Provecho” a lovely expression of warmth and hospitality, on this island of curious food-loving folks, it gives us all a chance to check out what yummy food those around us are enjoying! Try it yourself!
