Saludos!

As we wrap up another hurricane season, we’re still fielding calls and questions from couples wondering about the current situation in Puerto Rico, following Hurricane Fiona.

We are fine. Everyone on our team has had power for weeks. The island is beautiful and fully open for business. We’ve heard rumors of pockets in remote corners of the island who are still having power and infrastructure issues. Our hearts go out to them, but we can confidently say that visitors will not be impacted at all.

As visitors to our island, even if you’d traveled here in the days immediately after Hurricane Fiona, your experience would have been untouched. The power issues that have hit the news mostly affect residents unable to invest in costly backup systems. Tourists enjoy accommodations and facilities with solar systems and generators.

Of course, we do realize that for our off-island couples trying to plan vacations and weddings, hurricane season is stressful no matter how much reassurance we provide. So don’t take our word for it! In this month’s edition of The Latest, we’re featuring pictures and videos of our happy hurricane season couples! It doesn’t look so bad, does it? 😉

Remember Alexa & Luis? We featured their beautiful day in September’s edition of The Latest. Alexa & Luis were married on the very day before Hurricane Fiona passed over Puerto Rico, and the day couldn’t have been more beautiful. We’d made backup plans in advance to have their dinner and celebration in our beautiful indoor, air-conditioned event space right across the street from Hacienda222 so they wouldn’t even have to think about any potential wind or rain. Only five days later, CJ & Chris were our first happy couple after Hurricane Fiona. Hurricane Fiona hit the news just as CJ & Chris were starting to travel from their home in North Carolina! We stayed in contact with them as the storm passed, assuring them that their wedding day plans would be unaffected while promising flexibility with moving their wedding date if they decided not to travel. CJ & Chris decided to go for it! They shared about their experience here. Click above to see their stunning wedding video.

Caitlin & Sonny eloped with us about a week after Fiona. They were concerned about their legal paperwork amid government closings and power issues, but we assured them that our ‘Let us take care of everything’ marriage certificate support package means that we truly do take care of everything, even during hurricane season! Some behind-the-scenes inside scoop? We ended up syncing up with the doctor who signs off on our couples’ lab tests in a Burger King parking lot, paperwork and pen in hand, hours after the storm passed and before power was restored to his medical clinic. Not only did he sign off on all Caitlin & Sonny’s documentation while they were still stateside, he brought us avocados that fell into his yard during Hurricane Fiona!

We’ll leave you with the wedding of Megan & Cesar at Guajataca Tunnel in Isabela. Megan checked in with us just after Hurricane Fiona passed, and we were happy to tell her that we were all ready and excited for her wedding! They were able to travel to Puerto Rico without worry or stress, enjoying their beautiful wedding day and honeymoon.

As a quick rain shower passed through on Stephanie & Wes’ wedding day (unrelated to any hurricane!), they embraced Mother Nature’s gifts and literally jumped for joy! They continued their photo shoot the next day at a trash-the-dress photo shoot on nearby Princess Beach (see the above cover photo). Many of our couples love having a gorgeous and stressfree wedding on Hacienda222 with a deserted beach as their backdrop, but they still want those iconic wedding photos barefoot on the beach, just like Stephanie & Wes.

Hailey & Tyler were married just last week at The Ruins of Aguadilla and really didn’t see any remnants of Hurricane Fiona on their island vacation or on their wedding day. After their wedding, they shared this sweet note with us:
“We are so happy that we decided to work with you all and couldn’t have asked for our day to be any better. We appreciate your help so much and couldn’t have asked for a better experience from start to finish. It was everything we could have hoped for.” -Hailey & Tyler
