Saludos!

Happy Spring to all, and I hope that this month’s Latest finds you all well and healthy! This month we feature a few of our recent beautiful weddings, while also providing the answers you need to get married in Puerto Rico. We also include a bit of advice, including where to stay on the island.

As for us, all’s well in beautiful Puerto Rico. Surf’s up, our migratory humpback whales are lingering before heading north (they crashed two of our weddings this week!), and the teacup chickens on our hacienda have just hatched a clutch of adorable chicks. And, of course, we’re delighted that we’re booking and creating a record-setting number of weddings and elopements. Springtime love is in the air.

We still have some availability for the upcoming months, but dates are filling up fast, so let us know how we can help with the Puerto Rico destination wedding of your dreams!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Best,

Myths About Getting Legally Married in Puerto Rico

At Puerto Rico Destination Weddings, Inc., we perform more legal weddings than anyone in Puerto Rico. We get many questions from our couples about what it takes to get legally married in Puerto Rico. We frequently update our blog with the latest information about Puerto Rico’s marriage requirements (read more here and here). There are many myths and a great deal of misinformation out there. In this video, we explain and debunk the top myths about getting married in Puerto Rico.

Zoom In: The Wedding of Juliana & Steven

Juliana & Steven’s bohemian wedding took place at the incredible Guajataca Tunnel. They chose this location for its breathtaking views and shady palm forest. Juliana & Steven’s beautiful family came to Puerto Rico to support them as they exchanged vows. Their bohemian wedding ceremony on the beach under a stunning pyramid arbor was a memory to last a lifetime. Check out their stunning wedding video here.

The beautiful bride wanted a stress-free wedding with her feet in the sand, and we were happy to help!

Juliana & Steven were married in front of our pyramid arbor, covered in pampas grass and fresh greenery, for a gorgeous bohemian wedding look.

The Guajataca Tunnel gets its name from a picturesque abandoned train tunnel once used to transport sugar cane across the island.

Felicidades to the happy couple!

Gay- Friendly Wedding Venues

We have had the honor of marrying hundreds of gay couples on this beautiful island, one of the only places in the Caribbean where gay marriage is legal. Today we share our top five gay-friendly wedding venues. These locations are both gay-friendly and absolutely stunning!

Top Five Reasons NOT to Stay in San Juan

We often hear from couples who have never been to Puerto Rico and automatically make plans to stay in San Juan, the big city on our island. For those who love city life, sure. But for others, here are a few reasons to enjoy other parts of the island and not stay in San Juan.

Playa Princesa, a Beautiful Isabela, Puerto Rico Wedding Venue

Just down the hill from the town square of the picturesque western Puerto Rico town of Isabela, Playa Princesa is a stunning and isolated beach surrounded by dramatic rock formations. Playa Princesa, or “Princess Beach,” serves as the entry to a long stretch of deserted beach not accessible by car, home to some of the last untouched dunes on the island.

A Note From Jade & Stephanie

We are so fortunate to take part in such a special day in our couple’s lives! Stephanie & Jade had a beautiful wedding at Puerto Hermina in Quebradillas. After their ceremony, they shared these lovely thoughts with us:

“To say that this experience was anything less than a dream would be an understatement. We had originally canceled our big wedding twice due to Covid and decided to have a small ceremony so my father-in-law could be there and not have to travel (he’s a Puerto Rico resident). Ashley was so responsive and helpful. We are obviously in a very weird time with Covid, and there are unfortunately a lot of unknowns about traveling to the island. Ashley helped us every step of the way. Once you get to the island you can relax, there are no buildings you need to go to, you don’t need to apply for your marriage certificate, she does it all for you. We chose Puerto Hermina as our spot for our wedding. Let me tell you, this is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. We chose the flower and decoration package. Everything was decorated beautifully and the bouquet was beautiful. As for the ceremony, Ashley made it so special. She was attentive and personable. She makes it about YOU. Our pictures came out beautiful and we received them a week after our ceremony. We also purchased the drone add-on, and thank god we did. We have watched this video probably 200 times. It’s so beautifully edited and he really captured it perfectly to help us remember that moment and feeling for the rest of our lives. We received our video within 3 weeks of our ceremony. Puerto Rico is one of my most favorite places in the entire world, if you are contemplating using this company, just do it. You will not regret it. Every single thing went perfect and that is all thanks to Ashley and her team.”
