Many of our wedding venues are located on the Northwest side of Puerto Rico with the charming town of Isabela taking the prize for the most locations (among them, the breathtaking Hacienda222). A google search might lead you to believe that San Juan is the only town in Puerto Rico but mention the town of Isabela to locals and you’ll see their eyes light up! People who live in Puerto Rico know that Isabela is a true gem, and the place where locals go for vacation! Here are five things you won’t want to miss in Isabela …

Surf at Jobos Beach

Bring in the day with surf lessons at Jobos Beach (pronounced Hoeboes). Jobos beach is a treasure in Puerto Rico. Known for its year-round world-class surf, Jobos features a natural sandbar that creates perfect conditions for beginners wanting to give surfing a try. There are board rentals and lessons available at several spots on the beach. If surfing is a little too adventurous for you, spend some time on the shore. Jobos has palm trees for shade, and a row of beach bars to choose from.

Beach hop

Isabela is home to some of the most stunning beaches on the island, you can’t go wrong getting a giant mojito from Tu Mojito, and taking a beach hopping tour. You can start just down the hill from Tu Mojito at Playa Princesa beach (one of our beautiful wedding locations) and continue on to Poza Theodoro, Montones, Swallows’ Pool… and on and on.

Take a walk along 4 miles of coastal trails

On weekends you can stop by Penon de Coco (another favorite wedding spot) and visit our friend Jose and his iconic coco truck. He serves up fresh cold coconut water straight from the coconut. Sip your coco and take a walk along the paseo lineal, over 4 miles of beachfront trails.

Go salsa dancing

There are often events and festivals in the beautiful and historic town square. Wednesday artisan craft fair, Friday Salsa night where they offer a free salsa lesson and play salsa music so you can dance the night away! This and other events are often posted on the town’s Facebook page.

Paddleboard the Guajataca River

The Guajataca Tunnel is one of our most beloved wedding venues. It features beautiful architectural elements of a train tunnel built in the early 1900s. In the tunnel area, you can find murals by local artists and artisan booths set up on evenings and weekends. But our favorite thing about the Guajataca Tunnel is across the parking area where the Guajataca River flows into the Atlantic Ocean. Many companies offer kayak or paddleboard tours of the river, this is an amazing and peaceful way to take in Puerto Rico’s natural beauty and the best of what Isabela has to offer.
